Mayor (NG)- Chosen by the council he or she has the final say on matters the
council cannot decide on. The Lord Mayor is a focal point the diplomatic lead
with all outside agencies and governments. This is a holdover from when Searka
was ruled by a royal family. The
Council (LG)- One person from each of the name giving races that call Searka
home make up the council. When one member dies or steps down the council makes
offers to others to fill the spot. They make the laws and direct the way
commerce is handled in the city. This is taken from they way Kaer Llyndstrum was
governed after they overthrew the baron’s son during the scourge. The
Schools of Magic (N)-Each type of magic has one leader that is in total charge
of the students of that discipline of magic. Any given discipline has 2-20
students at any one time at varied levels of ability. The
Church of Garlen (NG)- The church of Garlen normally has a lot of pull with the
council and the current Lord Mayor is a follower. The
Monastery of the Opal Fist and Temple to Thystonius (LN and N)- The Monastery is
the reason that Searka is on the map the temple to Thystonius and the contingent
of Throalic guard have a say in how things are handled but they normally side
with Otik and the Monastery. Most often they keep to themselves. Minor
Power Centers
The
Grove (N)- A grove dedicated to Jaspree they keep to themselves and only
interfere when the land is at stake. The
Library (CN/G)- What looks on the surface to be a library and gossip spot for
local adapts and adventuring types. It is actually the front for the local guild
of thieves. Searka’s
Defenders (CN)- The local heroes! This high level-adventuring group (15th+) is
very protective of the city and holds high-level positions in its
infrastructure. They are always recognized and held in awe by most of the
population. The Schools of Magic
Elementalist-
The Master of the elemental school is currently Esene
a Windling of 8th Circle (8th Ele 2nd
Rogue) she is taking the school down a frivolous path and may not last long as
the headmistress. Elementalism has always been the most popular form of magic in
Searka, currently with 16 Students.
Illusionary-
The Master of the school of illusion is Antal Bufanu a Dwarf from Jerris.
He is working for Sys under the table and moved at her request. He is a 5th
Circle Illusionist 4th level rogue 2nd level fighter. There are 5
students of Illusionary magic at this time. Vaso Corak is
rightly upset that she was not picked as current leader as she is a 7th
circle illusionist and a native. She holds a grudge and plots to discredit Antal. Nethermancy-
Skazzyg has been the head of the School since they granted the post,
almost 50 years ago. She has not noticeably aged in that time even though she
appears to be human. Much of her time is spent in Throal and she can sometimes
be hard to get in touch with. She is picky about her apprentices and currently
only has three. Wizard-Tove
is a highland troll and a cousin of Odie’s. She is a 7th circle
Wizard and a 3rd Level Barbarian. She is thought to be the one that
the council asks to join in Odie’s place. There are 6 students of Wizardry
currently. |
